Toilet paper rolls can be transformed into a lot of things. From bird feeders to Christmas ornaments, you’re sure to find something on our list that you’ll enjoy creating. The best part, thanks to the necessary things in life, you most likely already have some toilet paper rolls lying around somewhere.

Toilet Paper Roll Bird Feeder

What you’ll need:

  • Popsicle sticks
  • Bird seed
  • Peanut butter
  • Twine
  • Toilet paper rolls

Directions:

  1. Using a popsicle stick, cover a toilet paper roll in peanut butter (you can use some other form of natural glue as well, such as almond and other nut butters).
  2. Once the toilet paper roll is completely covered in peanut butter, roll it in the bird seed.
  3. Thread a piece of twine through the toilet paper roll and then tie it.
  4. Hang it on a tree or somewhere birds will come to enjoy it.

Toilet Paper Roll Lights

Create fun, seasonal light bulbs for any occasion! Whether it’s Christmas, Halloween, Thanksgiving, or Easter, this easy arts and craft project will help you decorate your house for the festivities—and may just make you feel super crafty too.

What you’ll need:

  • Approximately 1½ toilet paper rolls, depending on how many lights you want to make.
  • Red, yellow, green, orange paper (or any color you’d like)
  • Twine
  • Hot glue gun and glue gun sticks
  • Scissors

Directions:

  1. Cut your roll into about ¼-inch segments. Measure those segments out along the outer side of the roll. When you’re finished, you’ll have several small circles.
  2. Shape the segments into an oval or keep them round, whichever you’d prefer, and then glue the shaped roll to your colored paper along the edges to provide a backing for the shape. When you’re done gluing, you’ll have a piece of paper serving as the back of the “light bulb.”
  3. Trim excess paper that you glued to the edges of the segment.
  4. Next cut up squares of colored paper that are large enough to fold over and act as the base for the “bulbs,” that is, they’ll look like the fixture a bulb would screw into and hang down from. These can again be whatever color you like, but black is always a good choice.
  5. Fold the large paper squares in half and glue one half to the back of your “bulb,” leaving the other half unglued, to be glued in the next step.
  6. Cut a long piece of twine and fold the square flaps you glued to light bulb over the twine, gluing it down as you go. Put a dab of glue in the fold to hold the twine in place.
  7. Hang up your brand new lights around your house, on your tree, over your mantle, wherever!

Toilet Paper Roll Wreath

Create a fun wreath to decorate your front door or any room in your house!

What you’ll need:

  • A dollar store wreath form
  • Toilet paper rolls
  • Scissors
  • Hot glue gun and glue gun sticks
  • Spray paint

Directions:

  1. Keep the toilet paper rolls intact and cut them into thirds.
  2. After they’re cut, unravel them and then curl them back in to make little rosebud-looking shapes.
  3. Begin hot gluing the curled pieces onto the wreath form.
  4. Spray paint the toilet paper roll wreath any color of your choosing.
  5. Let it dry completely.
  6. Hang it up!

Toilet Paper Roll Stars

These simple, fun stars can be used to decorate your home for any occasion!

What you’ll need:

  • Toilet paper rolls (one roll makes about one star)
  • Scissors
  • Elmer's glue (or another similar type)
  • Clothespins
  • Spray paint
  • Spray adhesive
  • Glitter

Directions:

  1. Cut the roll into ¾-inch pieces. You should end up with 6 rings.
  2. Pinch rings just a bit at the ends to create a flower petal shape.
  3. Put glue on the flat, ¾-inch end of one of the tips and glue it to another petal. Use a clothespin to keep together until dry.
  4. Connect each petal shape until you’ve made a star. (Star will have 5 pieces, any more will make it a flower.)
  5. After your stars have dried, spray paint them the color of your choice.
  6. Spray the stars with spray adhesive and then add the glitter. Let them dry completely.
  7. After they’re done drying for the second time, presto! They are ready to hang.
